Unity is strength in fighting a common cause and the internet is the best way for different kind of customers to gettogether. Is is being used that way?

There was an organization called “The poets against the war” which comprised of almost 13000 poets who were protesting against the Iraq war. People also started signature campaigns against the war on the internet.

Recently there was a power hike of 10% in Delhi which caused a civil disobedience movement when many residents simply refused to pay the hike. Though this was not on the internet, one wonders why the internet is not used as a tool in such matters to make even more people to come together since in India, customer service is atrociously poor.

The Internet usage in the USA is far more widespread than it is in India. One wonders whether the net is used by community forums to air their grievances to the local politicians. It is said that “Unity is strength” and it is so easy on the net to get together.

My father had to once protest against the Railways on his own but when all the passengers supported him, the authorities had to listen. Though there, all the customers were in the same place, the net can be used to bring people from different towns and cities and far flung areas together for a common cause. I would appreciate if some one lets me know of anything like this happening in the US
