One of the things that bother me the most was bill collectors calling my home all the time and at all times of the day, and even though I understood that they were just trying to collect on a debt it still bother me. You can tell when the phone rings and looking at your caller ID thats its a bill collector and even if you don't answer it that does not stop them from calling you all day, and even when you do answer it and tell them why you can't pay they still call the very next day. well I am going to tell you why they do this. Lets say you owe a credit card bill and that bill is for $1,000.00 when the credit card company feels that you will not pay that bill, first they will write it off as bad debt then they will sell it to a collection company for less then half price, meaning your $1,000.00 debt will be sold to a collection agency for about $300 and then the collection agency will go after you for the whole $1,000.00 that's how they make their money, and that's why they call day after day and all day, but what most people don't know is that the law protects you from this harassment , How? you ask . the law says that if you want debt collectors to stop calling your home you most write them a letter requesting them to do so, and if they continue to do so after recieving your letter they can be fine $1,000.00, so I pray this info. helps you.
