You know we are so easily distracted by the things of the world, by things that are transitory, that sometimes it seems next to impossible to achieve this total inner peace; this desired state of contentment. Some times we must just utter the Jesus prayer, "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner." That sounds bleak, doesn't it? But it's the only way to God's heart. There is power in his name. Of course, all of this doesn't seem appealing or easy at first; it doesn't even seem believable to some. I ask you this: Do you believe in George Washington or Abraham Lincoln? Do you believe you have a mind? If the answer is yes, then you just admitted that you did so without seeing it. If you say you believe in George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, the same is true again. You admit that they were real people, even though you never met them personally, right? 

How about the wind? You can feel it, you can hear it blowing; you can even smell it sometimes. You can't see it, and yet you believe it. I remember someone telling me once, "If you don't believe in God, then you'll believe in anything." Wow! The more I look into eschatology, the more I can see the signs of the times. My dear reader, shift your mental gaze inwardly, not outwardly. Don't sneer at these insights if you are not a Christian. You know the thief on a cross with Christ changed his opinion and heart at the last minute and obtained the crown of righteousness and salvation. We would do well to pay attention to this next biblical verse: "He who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see?" (Psalm 94:9). Know this too, that evil does not sleep, nor does it distinguish between classes. Whether rich or poor, or even in between somewhere, evil always tries to rear its ugly head. Always be vigilant in your intellect, for it is there where the devil speaks subtly and then from there it carries to your flesh. You will eventually come to know and feel divine protection.
