So what have we been doing with our summer? Here's just a glimpse.

Kicking Back

On June 14, our teen genius graduated from high school. We spent the first month of summer nagging him to pack up his stuff, the second month packing up his stuff and buying duplicates of all our stuff that he decided to take with him and then shipping him and all that stuff off to live the high life at Big City U.

Suddenly, every day is a weekend. Yeah, I’d say we’re living life on the edge now. We’re just a couple of carefree, middle-aged party animals. We don’t have to get up early to get the kid off to school anymore, so we sleep in until the cat gets hungry and jumps on top of us. We don’t have to be role models anymore, so we’ve been watching the Olympic Games all night on television and since we don’t have to eat vegetables anymore, we’ve been eating pizza as often as we want. In fact we’ve been trying out all the different delivery joints because now we can wear our pajamas at 6:00 p.m. and not be concerned that teens will walk in on us. We can even buy doughnuts at night for breakfast the next day and they’re still there in the morning.

We were so worried that we wouldn’t have anything to do without driving our son all over town for all his activities, but we’re doing okay. Yeah, we kinda miss him, but we’ve got our new bigger screen tv, a bunch of restaurants on speed dial, and each other. Okay, so we’re a couple of old farts leaning back in our lazy butt recliners. Whaddya expect? We just got done raising one supreme kid. I’d say we deserve a rest.
