Scripture: Joshua 1:1-9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

Devotional Focus

So many times I feel that God wants me to move on with some project or to do something to make a difference another person’s life. However, like Joshua must have felt, I have experienced misgivings. I remember, about six years ago I felt the need to move to further studies, but I was without the necessary resources. However, as I went to God in prayer and fasting seeking his direction, God assured me through his Word that I should move forward.

God instructed me “see, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut” (Revelations 3:8).

There were times during the course of my studies that I felt that could not go on. But those words encouraged me; I could not stop as I truly believed that nothing could close the door that God had opened. I have since completed the programme of studies for, like Joshua, God equipped me for the task. 

God will give you all the resources you need to move forward according what he has purposed for your life. It might not be easy, but trust God in all your ways and he will direct your path (Proverbs 3:5, 6). He will equip you for the task ahead.

Today’s Reflections

Prayerfully, think of specific steps you need to take to move on with what God is calling you to do. Write down these steps and ask God for the courage and resources to move forward with step one.

Prayer

“Dear heavenly Father, thank you that you are a God of purpose. You are faithful to you Word; help me to step forth into what you have called me to do. Strengthen my heart and give me the confidence to stand knowing that you are with me.” In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
