Scripture: Numbers 14: 5- -9

“The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good” (Numbers 14:7).

Devotional Focus

God had great plans for his people, Israel, yet many of them did not experience what he provided for them in the Promised Land. Many of his people died in the wilderness because of their unbelief. In the passage, Moses, Aaron and Joshua tried to reason with the people regarding taking possession of the land God has already provided for them, but they refused to listen. There was even talk of stoning them!

In the same way God has great plans for us as believers yet we sometimes don’t experience them because we fail to believe his Word. As we move to the end of this year, we are aware that there are areas of our lives in which we continue to limit God because we am not responding in faith.

In the case of the Israelites, they needed to move into the land God promised them despite the negative reports, yet they did not. Yes, we sometimes say we believe God regarding an issue, but faith needs a response. Just saying that we believe is not enough, faith calls us to action in obedience to God’s Word. When we step out in faith, we remove the limits, and nothing is impossible.

Today’s Reflections

Spend some time to consider areas in your life where you have limited God during this year. Commit to moving in obedience to what God has been saying to you through his Word. Recognise that your faith response opens the door for God’s miraculous power to work in your situation.

Prayer

“Father, I confess that I have limited your work in my life and circumstances in so many ways, forgive me. Today, I make fresh commitment to submit to you and allow your mighty power to work through me. Help me to respond in faith to what you have been saying to me during this year, and move from impossibility to possibility. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.”
