I will be telling about a song I wrote for my daddy while I was in prison. I will then include the song.

I want to share a song I wrote for my daddy while I was locked up. One of the greatest blessings that happened to me in prison was being filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Now I know some of you may not have experienced that and may not even believe in speaking in tongues, but for me it was the beginning of a whole new adventure. Thats when the manisfestation of writing came forth for me. I started writing songs, poems and even wrote articles for a church newsletter every month. Anyway, I had been locked up for 5 years and had just gone before the pardon board. My daddy had talked to some of the members before I was to go before them and they assured him that they had every intention of taking a serious look at where I was then instead of the crime itself. The pardon board is supposed to look at how you've been rehabilitated and the progress you have made. Daddy was very encouraged and there were 20 people that drove to the town where it was to be held to be there to support me and my family. It was a long drive for most of them, so they went down the night before. When I got there that morning there seemed to be a delay. We were supposed to start at 9:00 am, instead it was getting close to 11:00 and we still had not started. After sitting there wondering for a long time what was going on, someone came to the door and informed me that my District Attorney was there and they were arguing with the warden of the prison about bringing in a TV camera and letting Common Sense Against Crime come in and video it. They won the argument and things got underway. It didn't take long once I sat down in front of those 12 members of the board to realize that things were not going to be quite as wonderful as we thought or were led to believe. The first thing they said was, tell us what happened on March 8, 1992. I had to go through the whole story again about my sons death from beginning to end. For 3 hours they did nothing but criticize and ridicule me in front of my family. I got back that night to the prison, only to find it on the 10:00 news for all my fellow inmates to see. The next day it was in the newspaper that a nice little lady who worked at the prison decided to pass around. It was one of the hardest times in mine and my families life. I cried for 3 weeks after that and knew that God had other plans, and he was still in control no matter how painful it was. I found out later that the District Attorney had gone down the day before my hearing and met with the pardon board members. It seemed that no matter what I tried to do, no matter how many appeals I filed, no matter what, he was always one step ahead of me trying to stop me. After this hearing I made it a point to start claiming the scripture Proverbs 21:1 The Kings heart is in the hands of the Lord, as the rivers of water he turns it whithersoever he will. I replaced the kings heart with the DA's heart. I then wrote this song for my daddy,  A Miracle For You.
