Ancient Chinese Proverb for Modern Survival Preparedness (Part 1)

WHEN THERE IS FOOD ON THE TABLE YOU MAY HAVE MANY PROBLEMS. 

There is food on the table and your family is happy.  You chat and joke with each other and relate the events of the day as you eat; until your teenage son asks for money for something.

Suddenly the mood has changed and money has become the topic.  Your wife needs to go shopping for clothes for the baby, the car needs repairs, the house needs paint, the lawn mower won’t start, taxes are going up,  your son’s grades are going down and to top it all off your company is cutting back and you might get laid off.

You are happy and well fed, and have many normal problems; but what if there was no food on your table?

An era of prosperity and plenty

You were born into and have lived during an era of unprecedented prosperity and plenty but history has taught you that eras eventually end. Knowing that history always repeats itself, commonsense tells you that the end of this one is approaching rapidly.

You see ours and other national economies, great and small teetering on the brink of default, crushed by insurmountable mountains of unsustainable debt.  All of them inextricably entrapped within a house-of-cards “global economy,” and you realize that any catastrophe, foreign or domestic, unintentional or the result of political perfidy could bring the whole thing down.

Not if, but when, the global economy crashes and diesel fuel becomes unavailable or unaffordable, the National Electric Power Grid fails in part or totally and the food supply chain breaks down, where would the food for your table come from then? 

How would dinner time go if there is no dinner?  Would you be more worried about the baby needing clothes, or food to eat?  Would fixing the car or the lawn mower or the boy's grades or even losing your job be as important as the meal you just missed?

One dauntingly complex, yet simple question

You would have only one problem.  All the concerns and worries of your life would be swept away, leaving only one dauntingly complex, yet simple question: How would you feed your family?

Preparedness is the answer.  You must decide now, what my best survival products are and purchase them.   You must be water self sufficient and be able to cook and stay warm off the Grid.  You need long term food storage, first aid kits, tools, light and communication gear and defensive weapons to protect your home, family and possessions.

Failing to prepare your family to survive in the aftermath of a natural or manmade disaster exposes your loved ones to unnecessary hardship and hunger.  Unprepared they will be susceptible to disease from drinking unpurified water and subject to depredation at the hands of marauding looters. 

If you won’t prepare your family for survival, who will?

Ancient Chinese Proverb for Modern Survival Preparedness (Part 2)

WHEN THERE IS NO FOOD ON THE TABLE YOU WILL HAVE ONLY ONE PROBLEM    

Even before you opened your eyes you knew something was wrong.  You were hungry, but you’ve woken up hungry before.  Suddenly you’re wide awake and you know what’s wrong…For the first time in your life there is no food for breakfast.

A month ago an event happened in the Strait of Hormuz which sparked war in the Middle East and crashed economies world wide, including ours.

Almost immediately gasoline and diesel fuel prices in the USA doubled and then tripled and within a week filling stations began to close.  At first truckers couldn’t afford to fill up, later there wasn’t any fuel to buy at any price and many were forced to abandon their rigs.

The appearance of normalcy

For the first couple of days things almost seemed normal. By the third day you realized that this was serious and that you had better stock up.  When you got there the supermarket was packed and people were buying as much food as they could afford so you did too. 

During the next week schools closed, ATMs stopped dispensing cash, your employer shut-down, deliveries to supermarkets had stopped completely and the government was paralyzed and non responsive.   You hurried back to the store only to find it ransacked, dark and empty of food. 

 There were people outside selling canned foods, dry goods and gasoline at extortionate black-market prices.  You bought what food you could and 2 gallons of gas and went home.

But there is good news

Now, less than three weeks later, all the food is gone, no water is flowing from your kitchen tap and your family is hungry and thirsty.  But there is good news.  You heard on the radio that limited grocery deliveries might resume and government relief might arrive within 6 – 8 weeks.  All you need do is to survive the hard and dangerous weeks between now and then.

You now know that you should have bought a minimum 3 month supply of emergency preparedness freeze dried bulk food when you had the chance.  When times were good you should have become water self sufficient and able to cook and stay warm off the Grid.  You know that had you prepared for what commonsense told you was coming; your family would be protected from illness caused by drinking water from contaminated sources.  They would not be hungry, and they would never fall victim to looters or black marketers.

If you buy Survival Gear, Long Term Bulk Food Storage, First Aid Kits and more for your family's survival, who will?
