Leaving Death to Destiny
Ruth 1:19-20 and Ruth 4:15
So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi? And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.
God always prepares us for destiny. Naomi has lost not only her husband, but her only two sons. She left her hometown married and was blessed with two sons, however, she returns home only with her daughter-in-law, Ruth. She buried her husband and her two sons, leaving them in Moab. She tries to persuade both daughter in laws, Ruth and Orpah, to go back to their homeland. However, only Orpah went back to her home and Ruth stayed with Naomi. They traveled back to Naomi’s home town, Bethlehem broken and empty.
It was during Naomi and Ruth’s stay in Bethlehem that they both fulfilled their destiny to becoming a part of the family line of our Savior. They both had to leave the death of their husbands behind to fulfill their destiny. There are times when relationships and our loved ones die, but we must move forward. Yes, this is a painful and very emotional process, but there is a purpose in your pain. It is difficult, but death is only a part of the process that God uses to push us towards our destiny. Naomi’s husband and sons had to die in order for both women to fulfill their God-given purpose.
It would have been easy for both women to become complacent in their situation and linger over the loss of their husbands but destiny was calling them. I experienced the loss of my mother and there were days I just wanted to stay home and continue to cry, but God was calling me to fulfill my destiny. A destiny to minster, to pray, to prophesy and to write a book that would touch many lives. My book was only birthed after the death of my mom. I had to move beyond my pain and see the purpose that God was pushing me to.
Another experience of death that I have encountered was through a relationship to a young man that I thought was my soulmate. After dating for a year, he married someone else and this was a death experience for me. I felt as if my life was falling apart, but I realized later that this was a channel that God was using for me to minister to the broken-hearted. My heart was shattered but I could not remain in a grieving state. I had to process this relationship just like when I lost my mom, because even though my partner did not die physically, a part of me died. The part of me that died made me realized that I had to REST: Release Everything and Surrender Totally to God. It is time for you to bury those old relationships and move toward your destiny.
What deaths are God using to push you to your destiny? Leave death and reach your destiny. Apostle Paul put it this way, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
