So they got Imus. Now maybe these "justice seekers" will go after the rap musicians who have poured into our youth the very words Imus repeated in an attempt to be cool...or hip. The relish with which Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton rejoice in the fall of Don Imus is revealing. Both of these gentlemen have been accused of racism and intolerance themselves due to quotes attributed to them. Already, the liberal busy-bodies are gearing up for a run at conservative icons like Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh. This sort of behavior smacks of Orwell's 1984.
Intolerance, hatred, and bigotry should not be accepted by anyone, regardless of their skin color or social excuse. Wrong is wrong! I guess we've discovered just who is responsible for the filth being distributed to our children in the entertainment culture of America: Proctor and Gamble! No moral outrage whatsoever could force MS NBC and now CBS to pull Imus from the public air waves. But "bottom-line" outrage served as motivation enough when a few sponsors said they would no longer fund the poisonous brew called "entertainment" if Imus was an ingredient. Does anyone truly believe that Imus is responsible for what we witness today in our culture?
If these champions of justice imagine that it's safe for our kids to drink from the cup of American culture now that Imus is gone they are blind leaders of the blind. The hypocrisy coming from the talking heads in TV Land is dangerous in that people actually think they've accomplished something here. As long as Rap Music, Rock and Roll, Country Music, and other aspects of the entertainment industry continue to lead our children down a path of self-indulgence and wicked behavior the danger remains. Imus was just a pimple on the face of cultural rot in America. Don't be fooled by the celebration at his firing. As long as Hollywood fills our airways and theaters with moral garbage, as long as record labels are willing to give young artists fortunes to produce hatred, as long as money can be made, America will continue down a road to spiritual and moral implosion.

I will agree with you on this, though--it's black people's own fault. They helped to create the Don Imuses and people like Michael Richards in this nouveau ghetto age; too hard-headed to listen to their ancestors and are now paying for it in every way.

They're the gang-banging rats behind this industry, and they do, in fact, kill and rob--their own people mostly; but they cross the racial borders every now and then. They think they are underground like the Italian mobs they emulate, but everyone's watching everything they do, every move they make. The females in the hip-hop/rap industry do not get "discovered" until they open their mouths "wide" first...they have to do anything these guys tells them in order to get a recording.

You have this totally wrong. Musicians show us that if we put our minds to something that we will be able to have anything we want. The shiny gems and fancy cars are proof of this. They are not out killing people. They are not robbing your houses. They do not need to. They have dedicated their lives in sharing their thoughts and feelings with others. How is this bad?
The problem is there are no longer elders to whom the children listen to. . . I don't blame Jackson, Sharpton or anyone else because it just seems that all of us as Americans are always letting someone else have the reigns of our very limited and getting even more limited freedom of speech. There is no safe America as long as people with the billions call the shots. Imus disrespected women, and got whipped. But as for others like Stern, people who promote programs like Sex in the City (sponsors). . . people who think there is nothing wrong with same sex couples kissing lip to lip when everything in nature is against that. (Ever see two male elephants mate in the wild?) Man was made a little lower than the angels, but even the angels screwed up. The head cheese of that brigade is ex-Lucifer, currently Satan. And he's the cause of it all. Some people just choose to ignore that fact.
More of us need to be highlighting good things in our communities. There's no reason for say for instance a person in another country who never saw a white person, or a black person, a poor homeless person or any other cultural example to have their values about those folks determined by the way MTV and BET portray them. Again, we all have a choice. And we all choose to do, or not to do. If I was in Imus studio when that happened, believe you me Jesse and Al would have been late because I would have blasted Imus myself and said "What in the hell did your mother teach you!!!?" Then turn in my resignation because I'd rather take a pay cut and be happy than a big check and work around a hypocrite because I need to keep my water bill paid, ya know?
