Being a professional in the realm of business is no easy task. To work in the finance and business sectors usually involves countless meetings with clients and other colleagues. It calls for one to keep up to date with market trends and happenings.

Given how fast-paced the world of business can be, working in such an environment could prove daunting even to an expert, let alone a first-timer in the world of business. In order to keep up with the changes in the world market or in any other aspect that concerns commerce, finance, and business in general one must be constantly vigilant and industrious. It is imperative for such professionals to be able to manage their time well, be organized, and to accomplish their tasks consistently and as much as possible, without fail.

One of the things that can aid business professionals in dealing with the ever-changing business outlooks is the continuous engagement with colleagues who belong in the same specific facet of business. In this way, one can keep abreast of the happenings in the business world, official or unofficial, through one’s network. The connections one establishes throughout one’s career can be leveraged and used to one’s advantage after all. Thus, it is important to form ties and to maintain them.

Jeffrey Arsenault of Old Greenwich, CT, for example, is an investment expert and hedge fund of funds manager with a proven track record in fund manager selection and asset allocation, who leverages an extensive network of industry contacts developed over his 25 years in the business. This gives him special access into investment networks and keeps his thumb locked firmly on the pulse of the financial world.

A niche player and industry leader with strong business acumen, Mr. Arsenault has earned a reputation as an outstanding fund of funds manager with a track record of superior risk-adjusted absolute returns. He is the founder and principal partner of Old Greenwich Capital Partners (OGCP), a New York based investment management firm established in 2005. Since then, the firm has grown into a globally sophisticated, customizable multi-manager platform to the Hedge Fund world.

As any successful person knows, and Mr. Arsenault is no exception, it is important to make sure that one is organized and is on top of everything that needs to be done, all while keeping the time factor in mind. Time management is one of the most important acquirable skills a person can have, especially if said person is engaged in a profession that is as fast-paced, competitive, and demanding as the finance industry. In order to optimize one’s usage of time, organizational skills are invaluable. Keep track of what needs to be done, create a filing system, set goals early on, and take advantage of the many tools and technological advancements that are available in order to help you keep track of your tasks, appointments, and goals.

Keeping organized and managing your time properly will keep one from being overwhelmed by one’s appointed tasks and will afford one time to do other things that are not related to the building of one’s career. After all, it isn’t good to simply live to work. One must learn to work to live as well.

As a firm believer in a holistic lifestyle, Jeffrey Arsenault never fails to make time for other endeavors outside the realm of business. A known arts patron as well as literacy and learning advocate, Jeffrey finds the time to serve as a board member of the Stepping Stones Museum for Children and to support its Early Language and Literacy Initiation (ELLI). A strong believer in corporate social responsibility, Jeffrey also supports several charitable foundations both in Greenwich and New York, among them the Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families (EGSCF), one of the top foster care agencies in the New York City; and the annual east coast Hedge Funds Care, Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit. A golfing enthusiast, he recently merged his love for the sport and his charitable endeavors by serving as one of the organizers of the 10th Swing into It Golf Tournament, an annual benefit held to raise funds for Stepping Stone’s various projects and activities.

An active alumnus of Boston University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Jeffrey remains highly involved in the university’s Athletic Directors Council. He serves as a board member of Boston University’s Metropolitan Dean Advisory, and Sound Point Capital. With all the roles he fills in life, his most fulfilling role is father to a family of 5 children and husband to his lovely wife.

Much self-promotion and very little about time management. Peter Drucker's book on time management is a classic and I would recommend it for anyone interested in the subject.
