The Horses Were Waiting
for the Special Needs Kids
and Knew Each of Them by Name
by Judy Joy Jones
"I want to go to 'The Miracle Ranch' Linda said.
"So do I!" Becky chided in.
"Hey don't forget me please" Ronnie screamed.
The Miracle Ranch was for Special Needs Children. Everytime a physically challenged child got on the back of A Miracle Ranch horse, they were whole again and no longer physically challenged.
Their crutches, wheelchairs and attendants became history.
For the forty-five minutes they were on the backs of the horses with amazing healing abilities, they were like all the other children they longingly watched running and riding bikes.
From the magazine article about the Miracle Ranch, it sounded like a palace surrounded by beautiful trees and forrests filled with endless riding trails
The pictures in the article showed perfectly groomed horses.
As I drove several beautiful special needs kiddos to the ranch and we rounded the bend; all of us gasped aloud.
"Oh No!" we all moaned.
This ranch looked like a run down building which in 'kind terms' would be described as just needing a couple coats of paint and new windows to replace the broken ones.
Most startling were the run down old horses whose grooming stopped long ago.
An elderly man with a cane came up to me saying;
"Welcome to The Famous Miracle Ranch"!
And one ol horse with a limp came up to Linda in her wheelchair and nudged her hair ever so gently.
"Get me on this horses back immediately." Linda excitedly squealed.
Well what I saw in the three hours of hoisting kiddos on and off the backs of the beat up old horses was not only a miracle, it was as if the spirit of the divine
had taken form through these horses and nothing on earth will ever convince me otherwise.
The children on the backs of these animals became kings and queens.
Their challenged physical bodies were transformed before our eyes into the most perfectly bodied children on earth.
The elderly man limped over to me with his cane, took off his ragged straw hat and smiled so big I swear he looked like he had just hit a million dollar jackpot.
"You and your kiddos are welcome to "The Miracle Ranch" anytime. Just give me enough notice to groom the horses an tidy up the grounds and it will be just as beautiful for all of you as it was today."
The ol rancher put om his ragged hat and limped back to his front porch.
After we got in the car and were headed back down the road towards home, we all started screaming with laughter!
"Groomed horses and immaculate grounds", did the ol rancher really say that?
"All of you be quiet" Linda shouted from the back seat.."Dont you understand? The horses and the ranch; their outter appearence means nothing...Didn't any of you get it? We were just inside Heavens Doors surrounded by horses so filled with love they were chosen to show us that our love put into action is the Miracle."
