May we Heed the Cries
of Those in Need

Let us not forget 

the homeless

dying before our eyes

on our cold 

concrete streets


they are our father

mother sister

and brother

they are you and I


as we walk by

seeing those in need

eating out of garbage cans


may we remember 

everyone on earth

is sacred

and created 

to do great things


and all people 

need food shelter

and medical care

to survive


through the open hands

of you and i

we can provide

to those in need


let us not forget

the homeless 

dying on 

cold concrete streets

before our eyes


and may we open 

our hearts and heed

their cries
