In brief, the novel is about a corrupted situation at an overnight camp in Muskoka (a very prestigious cottage area about 2 hours north of Toronto), where anything goes concerning staff behaviour, due to ineffective leadership.  The protagonist, Simon Green, is a high school English teacher who is hired as the camp photographer.  He never attended camp as a child, and is shocked to learn about the staff's rampant, out of control alcohol and drug abuse and sexual promiscuity occurring around the clock, eclipsing concern for properly caring for the children in their care, and rendering the camp extremely dangerous.  The novel focuses on how Simon reacts to the situation, how others react to him, as well as the fallout.
