There are many benefits to working as a live-in carer and this article examines some of the most important ones.

If you are looking for your first job, a career change or are looking to get back into work then live-in care is definitely something that you should consider. Many people are aware of the satisfaction of working in care roles but often overlooklive-in care jobsas they are not as well publicised.

Live-in care is without doubt a big commitment, but it also comes with a range of benefits and can be one of the most rewarding jobs you will have. If homecare is something you are looking to turn into a career, then here are several reasons why you should give a live-in care role serious consideration.

Creating a special bond

Not many people can say that they get to work with someone they consider a close friend every day but that is exactly what will happen when you accept a job as a live-in carer. You will be matched with a client whose personality is similar to your own and before you know it, you will have created a bond together that is much closer than client and carer. Having such a special relationship with the person you work with can bring a sense of job satisfaction unlike one you may try to find in any other profession.

Living arrangements

One major benefit of becoming a live-in carer is that you no longer have to worry about your own living arrangements. This is very beneficial for anyone who is looking to move out of their current accommodation but is currently struggling to find affordable places to live. In the current housing market, renting prices are very high, as are the amounts needed to place deposits on homes you wish to buy. Becoming a live-in carer will give you the time to save up your earnings while your living costs are reduced due to living in the home of your client.

Flexibility and pay

When you begin a live-in care assignment, you will agree your specific working hours and duties with your agency, client and their family. This allows for a certain amount of flexibility so that you can ensure that you have time for yourself and any other commitments you may have, unlike any other job on the market. You will also be offered a highly competitive rate of pay which may increase with increased duties, responsibilities and hours as your contract goes on. The ability to have your own input on your pay and hours is a benefit not many other jobs can offer.

Your own happiness

Mental health and stress in the workplace have been under constant scrutiny recently with much research showing that workers are under more stress than ever before. However, research by The Live In Care Hub shows that those working in the care industry have much higher job satisfaction than many other professions. Caring for another person on a 1-on-1 basis is very rewarding and live in care workers often report the highest amounts of job satisfaction and lowest levels of stress and worry regarding work than in any other care environment.

I agree 100% with everything that you've written. Being a live-in caregiver is similar to old-style room and board housing, except there is no rent. Instead, there is pay. Of course, you may have all of the household chores like cooking and cleaning, but you would do that for yourself in an apartment, anyway.

The big advantage is that living in means that you are working 24/7. While you may not be "working" all those hours, you will generally be compensated for the hours that you put in. Since your expenses are very small--you won't even need transportation to go to work--you can save most of what you make. That's not possible with other work except the military.
