Why did this happen?

Our nation has been under God's protections since it's beginning. We founded our nation on God's principals and under his honor. As I watched in horror as the rest of our nation did as those 3 fold events took place I looked to God almighty for his answer to the question we all have. Why? Why did this tragedy take place? Why did God allow such evil people to enter our 'land of milk and honey' to take such innocent, civilian lives?
As more scenes unfolded as I was captivated by the TV screen his answers became clear. The unity of the people of New York was impressive. Once cold-hearted New Yorkers caught themselves running into burning buildings, risking their lives for others. Something they never would fathom doing on an ordinary day. The examples of the NY firefighters and police officers sacrificing their own lives for strangers was heart wrenching, but our respect and pride grew strong as a nation.
Suddenly for the first time that I can remember in my entire lifetime liberal network news ran lists of churches that were opening their doors for prayer. Prayer to God. Our president quoted with sincerity verses from the bible. People flocked to blood donation banks and gave all they could. Others donated much money and continue too, why? Money is meaningless in such a tragedy. Material things become less important when we find out that all along greed, power, career are nothing in comparison to drastic loss of life.
Suddenly the true values of life become painful obvious in the abyss of smoke and tears on our television. It is our families, our little girl that we were too busy to spend time with. Our 8 year old son that we forgot to attend his t-ball game last week. Precious moments with our wife, husbands, and newborns that we lose in the hectic days of our busy lives. Forgotten parents, as they age and miss us dearly.
But God has proven through out history when we get to high and mighty, seek the wrong things in life, and ignore his will, that he will humble us. And he has.
In an instant this nation was humbled into God's arms, our spouses arms, and to run to our children and cradle them into our arms. We gather in our churches worshiping God in record attendance. We realize the value of human life, appreciation for this great nation, the importance of defending freedom, and most of all, how easily now it can be taken away.
One nation, under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Let's not take God's cover of protection away again by banning him from schools and ridiculing those of Christian faith. Let us welcome God, our country, and our loved ones with open arms. And pray that God once again shines his grace on America!
