The young man who senselessly murdered my son and left a 3 year old child to grow up without her father has been paroled and is able to pick up the pieces and continue to live his life while my granddaughter has had to grow up without the love of her father!
Mr. Murderer,
I see that our Justice System has determined that you have served enough time for the horrible, unjustified, senseless murder of my loving son, Darian and have released you back into society among decent, law-abiding people.
Well Mr. Murderer, I believe you should have spent the rest of your miserable life locked in a prison cell where you belong. There was however a moment when I truly believed that I was getting past the hatred I had felt for you for so long, but since your release, my hatred for you has escalated into something that worries me about my feelings.
I realize that the hatred I feel for you now is not so much because of what you had taken from me when you took my sons' life, but now it is all centered around my granddaughter, Darian's beautiful daughter and what you took away from HER. I had to watch my precious grand child grow up without a father. I had to watch her accept her high school diploma without her father. I had to watch her accept her Nurses' Degree without her father, and now I have to watch her, when the time comes, walk down the isle to marry the love of her life without her father being here to give her away. The time will soon come when my grand daughter will start a family of her own, and once again, without her father being there to take on the role of grand father.
Mr. Murderer, do you see, do you truly see the damage you have done to this family; to my precious, innocent granddaughter? It is so unfair that my son had to miss so many milestones in the life of the beautiful daughter he brought into this world. He would have been so very proud of her as I also am! I just thank God that my grand daughter had a good support system in her life to get her through some rough times, otherwise I cringe to think of how she would have turned out; which direction she would have taken. She has people in her life that love her very much and by the Grace of God she has endured and she is an awesome young lady. When I look at her, I see so much of her father in her which means a little part of him is still here with me.
So Mr. Murderer, you go ahead and continue to live your miserable life. 1 John 2:9 says; "Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in the darkness." I am praying that one day the hatred I feel so deeply for you right now will pass and I can find peace within myself for I know harboring hate is not healthy. "Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses". ( Proverbs 10:12). I have a lot of work ahead of me to get past these feelings.
I hope everyday when you look in the mirror, you are tormented by the reflection of a cold blooded murderer who gets to live his life after taking another innocent life. I wish you pain, grief and heartache forever and ever!
Hatefully submitted,
A grieving mother and grandmother
