You taught us important lessons in patience, acceptance and trust.

You are always asking me what life was like before you were born. What I think my loves, you are really asking is, have you hurt us by being born. Are you a burden. The answer is no.

While it’s true daddy and I led a full life, filled with hunting for food, skinning game and hiding from Indians, plus! That’s right! No TV!, something was missing-you.

Both of you are loved in very unique ways, for all the wonderful parts of what make you.

Cameron, when you were born, I was totally awed by how very strong you were, how you fought to live. Even your doctors remarked on your courage. You have given daddy and I the gift of joy. As we helped you grow, you always tried hard, even when you were so tired, it didn’t seem you would make it. You taught us important lessons in patience, acceptance and trust. They said you would never walk. Well Cujo, we showed them different. The first time you took a step, at 2 years old, I cried. And look at you now, my son. Riding bikes, skating, and swimming like a fish. Never a burden, my darling, always a joy and inspiration to everyone who knows you. Daddy and I thank God every single day for the gift of you.

Justin, you popped into this world bright eyed and ready to rock and roll. You are a very very special part of our family. From the very first, you were into everything you could reach. Daddy swears he turned gray overnight. You have an outrageous imagination, and keep daddy and I laughing, long after you’re asleep, with your wild tales. You always jump into help us. I love you my son. You are a bright, sensitive and loving boy. We know how hard it is feeling like Cam gets all the attention. Instead of being sullen, and resentful, you try that much harder to understand. I honor this in you. It shows the man you will become one day. A strong man with great character. Daddy and I look at you and see so much that is good and fine and loving. Never a burden my love, always a gift to be treasured.

Life without the two of you would be very, very empty. Yes we get tired and cranky, but we never stop loving either of you for an instant. This Thanksgiving, I will be especially thankful for what you have given us. Joy, laughter, and tears, a circle of love, a family.
