Don't believe eveything you hear.
Talk about e-Books, in private schools in New York, due to a shortage of text books, students are given laptops to read their lessons online in classrooms. From all reports, this will extend to public schools in quite a few years. Although public school students will have to buy their own since their parents aren't paying a premium for their education. The advantages behind this are: students don't have to share their textbooks with others as lessons are being conducted, all of their classes are online, plus they take a simple, lightweight laptop home to do their homework. This last point also eliminates the need to carry a 50 pound backpack back and forth to school and home. As far as authors are concerned, I see this as a coming of age for eBooks. If students are being trained as we speak to read online, then think of the ramifications in the future. Will they want to cuddle up with novels as they mature? Or will they prefer a novel on a hand held device which seems easier to manipulate to some. And will be a feat they've been doing since the first grade.
