This is another alternative to the high price of medicine these days.

I had cataracts at a young age, brought on by some medical problems. I had to purchase a one ounce bottle of medicated eyedrops to use days before and days after the surgery. The eyedrops cost $20 for the ounce. Meanwhile, a friend of mine who was a veterinarian, had similiar problems with one of her dog's eyes. She had to buy mediciated eyedrops. One time we compared my drops and the dog's joking around. It was the same prescription, had the same active ingredients and cost $3 an ounce.

Instead of questioning drug companies about the rising cost of meds, we should be asking why the drops were $20 for a human and the same exact prescription was $3 for a dog? Doesn't that beat all? Maybe we should be filling our prescriptions with our vets. On top of this, medicated cream used on sheep for skin problems was $16 per tube, and about $64 for a human. Go figure.

And when drug companies claim our meds cost so much because of a lot of the profit goes into research, I believe that's a lie. Between government grants and private donations, they make out pretty well.
