Pertains to cyberharassment and cyberstalking.

After complaining to Yahoo, the provider for one of my Internet stalkers, I received no satisfaction. I even posted a letter to Yahoo CEO Terry Semel and got nowhere. I went to the local police department and handed them over 60 emails I'd received to date. While these people were extremely kind and sympathetic, their resources are limited. I even tried telling my stalker to cease and desist sending me emails. His answer: the following day he sent no less than 27 emails.

Today I posted a letter to the FBI and received a call from a lovely man in Washington. He told me about a site specifically for my problem since I'm now receiving hang up calls that leave no listing on my caller ID. The site is: www.wiredsafety.org They have extensive articles pertaining to the subject and their best advice is to try and have laws created that protect people online. Not just from hackers, but from stalkers as well.

On wiredsafety, the difference between a harasser and a stalker was explained. The first one just harasses you with email. The second tries to make physical contact for the purpose of harming you. The other night there was someone standing at the edge of the woods surrounding my home beaming a flashlight at my windows. Long story. But I didn't call the police right away, although I should have.

The lawyer who put up the website wiredsafety suggested the following:  Write to your congressional representative and your senators. They can be reached online, via e-mail through www.congress.gov. and demand that new laws be enacted to protect us. So far the only one protected are the stalkers. Even Yahoo is defending the privacy of mine. And that's a joke. They talk care of their clients to the detriment of others.
