Not all seek to hurt you.
I learned over the years that there are people on the Internet who could be considered hackers due to their tracking skills and their abilities to gather information. I also learned that these same people are doing this not only for self-protection, but to help others.
I recently had an experience with one. She was so taken by my plight with the cyberstalkers that she volunteered to help me. And she did. She obtained personal information on one and I used it to discourage him. Sort of like in, "I know where you live." That was no threat of bodily injury to him, though, because I intended to give this info to the police. I even had a nice photo of him. God bless her skills. She also gave me the tools to have Yahoo pull the other one's account. She told me that if and when he obtains another free account, she'll work on him again.
Now she jokingly refers to me as Buffy and herself as Willow. I personally think she rules!!!
And again, I don't really believe all hackers are intent on doing us harm. Even considering the virus and worm senders, most of them are young and have a lot to learn. Of course, Mother always said I live in a dream world. Can't see reality. LOL
