A television reality show... this is the real gig. The fate of one's musical prowess falls at their very fingertips.
Thousands of hopeful musicians in three general instrumental categories -- string (guitar/bass and piano/keyboard), percussion (drums and bongos), and wind/brass (saxophone and trumpet) audition in their respective cities infront of four legendary musicians (perhaps guitarist Eric Clapton, percussionist Phil Collins, pianist Elton John, or instrumental connoisseur, Dave Mathews).
In the preliminary tryouts, each contender can play any song that he/she prefers.
One hundred finalists and/or future professional band members are then selected. The rules now change and each contestant must memorize 10 preselected songs from various bands/artists. The judges will then have the ability to "tone out" those that will not make the band. The 100 finalists are then narrowed down to 50, and lastly the premiere 10 are selected. For the final 10 contenders, and in lieu of the 10-song requirement, each will receive extended musical coaching before the final judging.
In the end, America gets to vote for their next "On Tour" musician. The will receive a check for $1,000,000 and accommodate the band for the tour's entirety. To reap the benefits from such honors as to perform live on stage, have their music recorded and perhaps the chance to become a permanent band member would fulfill every musician's dream!
Final Episode: What the winner does not know is what band they will in fact be joining. Live on TV the victor is announced but the anticipation is not gone. Who will be coming out on stage to congratulate them? It is at this moment that they are introduced to the band itself. One of the songs the winner had memorized will then be played live with the band for the first of many concerts to come!
For a lifetime of practice, one note may declare a vote and thier future.
"Can you make it On Tour?"
