Encyclopedic recall Ben Stein and comedian Robin Williams host a two-part reality contest/game show (oriented) series.  

Radio stations from across the country jockey to unscramble a message hidden in disheveled broadcast bits of news, music, entertainment, and sports.  The first five stations to decipher the message claim the right to host the "On the Air" challenge: a celebrity-performed, old-fashioned radio mystery that the station hopes their listening audience can solve first.

Celebrity Ins and Outs:  Five celebrities will perform each week’s mystery and record it at the On The Air studio.  The mystery broadcasts will be submitted only to the five qualifying stations.  During the week, each celebrity endorses its assigned radio station to work along side the jockeys to field call-ins and provide program clues.

Rules of Engagement:  Listeners must register (for a fee) at the official "On The Air" website to become a contestant and have the ability to submit one mystery answer at the end of the three day episode.  Upon providing their answer, they must signify their respective radio station (where they heard it) in order for both the contestant and station to qualify to win. 

Winners:  At the end of each week, camera footage from the week is aired and the winning contestant celebrates live on TV and in front of the studio audience with the show’s hosts and mystery celebrities.   This contestant would have solved the mystery in the fastest time to win $150,000 and live studio time to perform on the next mystery episode.  The resulting winning radio station receives celebrity advertising, money for future programming, and a link and banner ad on the website for which they will receive a percentage of the show's merchandise proceeds. 

It’s Camera Time:   Cameras privy inside random stations to tape the frantics of the initial qualification round.  They also hit the road to interview listeners, tape the celebrities during both their mystery show recordings and time in the station interacting with the jockeys and callers, and, of course, provide live footage of the show.
