No one with a soul who has actually gone on a midnight stroll during an early snowfall can say they don't like snow.
I "love" snow. I think it is a great gift sent from God that as we get older we fail to remember the special magic that it holds for us. I know you "Southeners may find it hard to understand how anyone could stand the nippy cold temperatures that we Canucks receive during our winters to maintain this snow but it is worth it.
Can you close your eyes and picture a world of white so pristine that it makes your heart ache, snowflakes so huge you can catch individual flakes of your tongue, no cars moving the world steps back in time. Snowmen made by children earlier in the day adorn both sides of the road often guarded by snow forts that have seen and heard the sounds of happy children. Can you see the cheeks of your lover rosy and red and her breath like puffs of steam as she sings Christmas carols as we walk along hand in hand.
Can you understand the concept of snow days when most of the non essential adult world gets to stay home put on a cozy fire, snuggle up and sip hot chocolate and read a good book evey now and then glancing out to see the peacefullness of the snow falling gentley to this earth.Perhaps if you're a young couple who haven't children yet it's the perfect excuse to cuddle naked under the covers for the whole day to reawaken like the snow reawakens winter your love and passion.
Oh I know it's not perfect, there is the snow shovellling to be done, the extra heating costs, road accidents, and the other complaints of winter but to me winter and especially snow make me feel young again. One last thing how can you truly appreciate spring until you see those irises and crocuses pushing up through the ground surrounded bu patches of snowy white.
Yes I a what you call a southerner, but I still like snow. It makes the world a winter wonderland. But here in my part of the world when we get a good frost and it starts melting with the sun shinning on it, we have a world of diamonds shinning. So much beauty either by snow or frost. Though our climates are not the same, we can still enjoy the gifts that mother nature brings. I enjoyed reading this story and will think about it if we get a snow. Karen
