I tried to think of a poem to write that could express how much I have come to love the people of our den who are like a second family. No one who has not been a member of this den could even try to understand the bonds of love and friendship that develop through our relationships here. We are not afraid to vent our anger, our despair, our broken hearts, and joys, our hopes and our dreams with each other because we are unique family all of our own.
When someone loses a loved one we are there for them, if a member is sick we worry and pray for them, If one of us has a sucess story such as the publication of a new book, a new child, a new lover, a new grand child we are always there to applaud and share in their happiness. These are true traits of brothers, sisters mothers and fathers and we are all of that to each other.
Recently a lot of you know I thought I would have to leave the den and not because I wanted to leave it was just circumstances beyound my control. Within days I had at least five offers of sponsership and I will not mention their names because they know who they are as well as numerous people trying to find a way to convince me and the rest of our family not to let me go.
With extreme humbleness I thank each and every one of you and I will not forget the brothers and sisters who were there when I needed them. If the world were a lot more like our den it would be a beautiful place to live.
Sincerely,
Felix L. Perry

Felix, I'm so glad you found angels to help you hang with us a little longer. You don't know all the things that went through my mind when I heard you were leaving...
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
