As the Messiah, Jesus was a great miracle worker. He has been known as the greatest healer. He delivered those who were possessed by demons, he healed the blinds, he made the lame walk, he healed those who had blood complications, he brought to life those who were dead, etc. But when he was on the cross, Jesus did not perform a miracle to get himself off the cross. Instead, he used the cross as the platform that allowed him to sacrifice himself for the sake of moving God’s providence to the next level—A new era.
As the Messiah, Rev. Moon focused on performing miracles of spiritual nature rather than those of physical nature. He proclaimed the reunification of East and West Germany, he predicted the collapse of the Soviet Union and communism when it was at its zenith, he brought together enemy nations, he successfully married people from enemy nations and conflicting religions without them giving up their religions, and many other barriers that he broke in the spiritual world while he was still here on earth. These are the types of miracles that Rev. Moon performed.
The human understanding is that the Messiah is supposed to overcome anything. Pneumonia should not take the life of the Messiah. The Messiah is greater than any sickness, for he is life and the source of life to us all. This brings us into a full circle back to Jesus.
When Jesus was on the cross, some people mocked and ridiculed him saying, “So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, come down from the cross and save yourself!” (Mark 15:29–30). At that point, the man who healed all types of ailments, the man who raised people from the dead, looked powerless as he could not free himself from the cross. But one thing that the contemporaries of Jesus, including his disciples, overlooked was that Jesus would have had no problem freeing himself from the cross if doing so was going to contribute to the fulfillment of God’s will. To the people gathered around at Golgotha and to everyone in Israel, Jesus was reduced to an ordinary man just like the criminals who were being crucified alongside him. He was reduced to an ordinary man just like other individuals who have suffered the same fate in the hands of the Romans. And as such, he could not have been the Messiah sent by God. Hence, since he could not free himself from the cross, since he was as powerless as any other ordinary man who did not survive crucifixion, Jesus was nothing but a fraud. At least to them, the fact that Jesus died on the cross, just like any ordinary man would, confirmed their suspicion that Jesus could not have been the Son of God. He could not have been the Messiah they longed for.
Today, some people may be reasoning the same way the contemporaries of Jesus did. Some people may even ask, “If Rev. Moon is really the Messiah, how could something such as pneumonia, which other people have overcome, take his life?”
It is my understanding that if overcoming his illness would have contributed more to the realization of God’s will than transitioning into the spiritual world, Rev. Moon would have recovered in no time. The fact that he willingly transitioned into the spiritual world, at this critical moment, means that there is more need for him in the spiritual world than here on earth. Rev. Moon will continue to work and contribute to the fulfillment of God’s will from the spiritual world while his wife, Mrs. Moon, continues to work and contribute to the fulfillment of God’s will from the physical world. This is truly a new era—the era of women.
The era of women is when the leadership of women is put at the forefront. It is the era of motherhood—true motherhood. It is through women (mothers) of divine qualities and heavenly values that peace will settle in this world. There will be no Kingdom of Heaven established if women are not restored to their original position of precious daughters of God.
