How i see suicide.

Life is like a wild daisy. One whose seedling sprouts its way out of the moist brown silt to brave the merciless winds, bask in the golden sunbeams and bath in the dew drops by night.
Playing with the butterflies, kissing the bees and adding beauty to the splendor of nature. It exists because nature willed it to do so; it grows and thrives because it is live and then it fades out and wilts when its brief date is over.
Would you ever crush out the life out of such an innocent flower? Would anybody? Not likely, right? Then why would anybody blow out the candle of a human life, specially their own? Isn’t life like a beautiful frail flower? Isn’t it a boon bestowed by God?
Whatever applies to murder applies to committing suicide. Whoever takes their life by any means whatsoever unjustly takes a life that God made so sacred.
Why would anybody commit suicide? Latest statistics show that flagging economies, breakdown in social values, domestic disputes, drug addiction and loss of family stability have caused a rise in attempted and successful suicide rates worldwide.
Man by birth is a social animal and by learning an industrial giant. We are all required to face tribulations and hardships but pride and optimism do not permit us to give up everything and ran away from the vicissitudes of life when a calamity befalls or our hopes are dashed. Life is created for striving, not for sitting idle, for combat, not for escape.
Firstly we have the not-to-be-forgotten category of artists, be they be poets or painters. Sheer creativity and wild imagination gets the best of them and plays a mischievous yet harmless role with their outlook. These people have little actual suicidal inclinations for they tend to shape everything in form of their colors and words. I for one, upon seeing the Niagara Falls, instantly thought that if I ever had to commit suicide it would be here! Don’t get me wrong; I love life with zeal but nature’s astounding tour de force took my breath away and that’s how I expressed my awed feelings. There was less truth in my words and more of sentiments. So don’t get these people wrong, but then again you never know!
However, what about hypersensitive minds that are so imaginative that any trouble is intensified a thousand fold. With such morbid nature, one will come to the conclusion that life is not worth living and the slightest provocation causes them quietly and resignedly to fly to the last resource, cherished and thought of for so long.
People suffering financial or matrimonial problems or social disgrace will feel life disappointments keenly; automatically they will develop a melancholy turn of mind. But logic never fails totally, unless mentally unstable, it can be vouched that they will weigh every side of the question of life and death and if they arrive to the conclusion that the game is up and the battle is over as far as they are concerned so they’ll proceed to put an end to all their misfortunes.
We can also blame romantic notions. While leaders fancy Hitler, many lovers have traced Romeos and Juliet’s path. Suicide gives some leaders a peculiar satisfaction of self-martyrdom and making a nation regret its words. Lovers are so engrossed in theatrical love strife that they prefer to die for each other then fight. Pick up any passionate movie or book and the first thing lovers do after sealing their bond is to swear to live & die together while leader dramatically sacrifice their lives.
How often we hear that a man blew out his brains with a gun, or a wife set herself on fire or that a youth was found swinging from a noose! Is taking ones own life really that simple? It remains a dilemma to me that people can get so carried away with their emotions that they are willing to abuse their own body in hideous ways. Is it easier to endure flames eating away ones skin or feel ones breathe being choked out rather then deal with materialistic problems that can be put right?
And is there a right to suicide? Not in Islam! The sanctity of human life is a basic value as decreed by God from the time Caine killed Abel and God revealed, “Take not life which Allah made sacred otherwise then in the course of justice”(Quran 6:151, 17:33).
Since we don’t create ourselves, we don’t own our bodies. We are entrusted with them for care, nurture and safekeeping. God is the owner and giver of life and His rights in giving and taking are not to be violated. Attempting to kill oneself is a crime in Islam as well as grave sin. “Do not kill (or destroy) yourself; for verily Allah has been to you most Merciful.” (Quran 4:29)
Is there really anything or anybody worth sacrificing ones life over when one gets or gives nothing in return? We should not allow themselves to diminish their lives in any manner, let alone harm or raze it! Why should one desperately opt for suicide as the only solution? Can one really be so exasperated as to end this short life and burn in hell for eternity at the Hereafter?
Thought this is an eccentric phenomenon that emerges from deep within of suicidal maniacs, the society is to be blamed too. We are so wrapped up in our own interests and affaires that we hardly perceive the pale worn face that has suffered so tolerantly, the hollow eyes of insomniac nights, the wasted cheeks of hunger; all which appears for a moment by our side and are then are gone forever before we know, leaving us with only regrets.
