Thanksgiving was Indian in Origin

Thanksgiving has its roots far in the distant past according to legends from various Indian Nations. The first cause is open to question. This brief comment is a combination of several legends.

Their ancestral homeland has been called to “Good Red Land”, “Isle if Fire”, etc somewhere beyond the sunrise ocean. A calamity caused a great migration from that land to the American shores. The part of that migration that involved North America came from the north along the eastern seaboard. They came in reed boats traveling south.

At various places, groups of travelers settled along the shore, first in the north, and later as they continued their trek, farther south. The migration continued into the Caribbean and into Mexico.

As they settled into their new homes, they gave thanks to the Gods they worshipped. The anniversary of that settling coupled with the harvesting of crops gave Thanksgiving its unusual mix of dates – later in the year as one goes south – which continues to this day.
