The Landing’s Writers Club honors Gina Pesavento, one of our Charter Members. She has been an outstanding member since the founding of this club by our president, Jim Morse. Gina came from Venice, Italy to the USA with her husband in 1946. She lived in Pennsylvania and Chicago, Illinois before her family decided to move to Cape Coral, Florida in 1961. Her husband passed away in 1964 and many years later, her son tragically died in 1989. In December 1991 she decided to move to The Landings. Gina explained, “I came to The Landings because I found a beautiful condo on the top floor with a view that reminded me of Venice, Italy. The view of the water and the bridge along with the top of the palm trees make me feel like I am in paradise.” Gina fondly calls her condo, “My little island in the sky!” Gina has been an active member of The Landings Bridge Club and The Landings Writers’ Club. She wrote about her life and about Venetian cooking. One article that featured her cooking was published a local magazine. She also wrote a book for children that was translated and printed in both English to Italian. Her next project is to write a Venetian style cookbook that will contain her favorite cuisine. Gina says that she will miss the Florida sun and the blue sky however, outside her apartment in Venice she can envision the jade green water from the large canal, along with the singing of the seagulls.  She says of her home in Venice, “I can see another kind of beauty waiting for me.” Aloha Gina!  We will all miss you but especially Giovanni Michelangelo Domino!
