There is a reason why I LOVE to watch certain old comedy movies and television shows over and over again. It's simply because I laugh so hard every single time! They never seem to get old!
We take in enough depressing stuff daily from the news so the brain NEEDS a balance before the end the day. Sadly, they’re a very few new comics that truly make jokes without being extremely vulgar and downright raw. They can be funny at first but their words can be a blessing then a curse.
Red Skeleton had a gift of making us laugh without saying a word! When has that happened lately? Alan Slater is probably the few comics today who can pull off being hilariously funny without using extreme profanity. The old Jim Carey Pet Detective movies were very funny as were the Leslie Nelson secret agent movies. I still desire to watch more of them. The only TV series I can watch over several times and still be entertained are MONK, Jerry Steinfeld and Cheers.
I was in a high School classroom yesterday doing an evaluation of an instructor. He asked the class, who had formed six groups to come up with a funny joke that is school appropriate. This was a competition about which team could get the most points. However, the students could not think of one joke. The class was DEAD silent for almost two minutes! That's pretty sad! During that time, I thought of three funny jokes but I was not allowed to participate, only observe. Can it be that teenage kids today cannot express humor without vulgarity? I hope not; but there you have it. Just one small example how our society is changing by being way too SERIOUS! Anyway, I rest my case!
Please let me know if you can think of any new movies or T.V. shows that have been able to pull off doing funny comedy without being downright distasteful and vulgar. I am looking forward to any responses.

I enjoyed "My three Sons", " Father Knows Best" and good ole," Roy Rogers". Those days are forever gone and sadly the young people of todays society have missed out on the simpler values of life.

Regis just sent me a bunch of sayings by Will Rogers. His sense of wry humor is timeless.
Joke making is difficult. It takes a sense of understanding human nature that younger kids don't have. But I have noticed that comics with a long time, even with grueling schedules and a lot of night appearances including all the vices that shortens one's lives. I will name only two, Bob Hope and George Burns. But there are many others. It was really sad to see Robin Williams cut his life short. What a talent. I like to go along with Bobby McFerrin and a video that he did with Robin one time, "Don't worry… Be happy…" And, "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, get an ugly woman to be your wife…"
