Read his parables, let it sink in, see how it makes one think and feel and choose
We use our own minds to figure out a way of life A better life than the mere animals which we are For we have the light of God inside banishing darkness
Walk in his footsteps, you cannot lose, you will win

I feel that walking in His footsteps, understanding His teaching, adhering to the Word certainly is beneficial to self containment and inner happiness.
