Review: Texas Skye by Vicki King

Take a good looking cowboy with chocolate brown eyes, a beautiful young woman with auburn hair and sparkling green eyes, add to that a man who wants to kill her, a gunslinger who seems to be everywhere, and the cowboys three brothers, and what do you get.....Texas Skye, the premier novel by Vicki King.

Rusty McCally, the oldest of four brothers runs the family ranch left to him after his parents died. On a cattle drive from Austin to Sandy River, Rusty learns there is an injured woman on the drive and Doc is afraid she may not make it. Angry that he was not told, he goes to Doc's wagon to check it out. What he finds is Skye, a
woman who has been beaten half to death. From the first time he sees the badly injured young woman, a deep bond begins to grow. In her laudanum induced sleep, Skye cries out the name, Jack, in a nightmare. Rusty vows to find this person Jack, and make him pay for what he has done.

In the mean time, Rusty will keep Skye at the ranch where he can protect her. But at the ranch her presence causes fights and jealously between the McCally brothers. Rusty returns to Austin with Prescott, his Texas Ranger brother, in search of clues to Skye's identity and the mysterious Jack. In Austin, they hear conflicting stories about Skye. Upon their return to the ranch all hell breaks loose.....

This intriguing tale of the romantic chemistry between a strong man and a
determined woman, set in 1800's Texas is by far the best western romance I have read.
