Good old Parents Without Partners (PWP). I sure remember having my daughter talk me into PWP so that she could control the apartment while I was away.

We both lived through it -- but barely. Many a lass ended up on crutches after dancing with me.

Cynthia, I joined PWP while raising two children on my own. The children weren't really interested, but I got to go to the dances and met many friends, some I still keep in touch with. Eventually I also met the love of my life who is still with me after 25 years. I believe I was quite an eligable bachelor, but I stayed away from the ladies looking for a quick fix to their lost relationship, which was a recipe for disaster. You seem like such a happy person and I am sure things will work out, but you can't make relationships happen, you have to let them happen.

Sounds like something any kid would try whether he/she had a single parent or not. I remember going to a friend's mom to help me learn to take care of plants because mymother was not interested in gardening. these books have a universal quality
