Some "grinds" have their "perks" (pardon the pun I can't help myself), and this is evidenced by the poets of the Daily Grind Coffeehouse, of Bridgewater, Ma.
This collection edited by Valerie Lawson and David Surette, gives the reader a nice taste of this brew of the bards. Katie Fowley's SQUEEZING THE MUNDANE THROUGH THE JUICER OF DESIRE brings the banality of
breakfast to new heights: "...Awake/ to a world that tastes like melons and sounds like accordions./ I want juicing oranges and dreaming guitars/lines of despair and heart broken coconuts/ I want to devour everything, to be filled with avocados and mangos." Now that's what I like, a poet with a healthy appetite for food and imagery. Another poetic gem is from Ernie Wight. He examines the things we accumulate over a life, as if this could ward off the Grim Reaper: " If I am to hang on, I must have crevices, hiding places.../the museum rooms of my anchored collections." I must also add there is fine art and photos by Dana C. Lipp.
