The past has left you standing...

MY HANDS ARE TIED NOW. I can never look back at the days that have made me who I am with no regrets. I've been walking with my head up reaching for stars close enough to grab a few in the palm of my hand. Their glow has keep me seeing in the darkest nights waiting for the light of day. They never seem so far.
Forget about everything you have left behind or that you might have done a different way if given a second chance. Look ahead to seeing something new in tomorrow. If what you left behind is catching up with you, kicking your feet out from beneath you, get up and go faster! Break free!
You're too fast to spend days rebuilding burned bridges before crossing the road ahead. Do what is necessary to get to the other side, but never look back. By looking back, I mean, revisiting old poems with the intent to burn or change their original nature or intent.
Poets and writers are historians. We select moments out of time that
document what is being affected, let it be good or bad. Whatever it may be, it was powerful enough to move your mind onto paper in its true form however way it may explode.
When poets tell me they are burning poems or revamping old poetry, I am saddened. The thoughts surfaced at that point in time came to you in a certain fashion. It might not seem like the stars are falling tonight when you re-read the poem, but they did back then. Ask yourself if it is really worth it?
Poetry comes to us by the grace of god, but poets are not god. We cannot change what has been graced upon us no matter which day it chose to fall. Our minds fluctuate and travel through many different stages and alterations. Now is not the right time to consciously decide our destiny. We have learned how to run toward tomorrow by walking through yesterday.
Why set fire now to what could have scalded your spirit a long time ago. It is a natural desire to want a pocket full of stars, but we have got to stand upon the past before we can reach for a true embrace.
When you are up there and holding them in both hands, only then can you look down from above to see their true beauty in order to decide if you have the strength to hang with what you've got to hold on to. Hold on tight and don't loose your grip, because you are going to need the energetic flow within the key ingredients that savor the flavor in this sweet slice of life.
