I believe still today that the United States of America is the greatest nation in the world but I worry for it.
Corruption has brought down many empires. Corruption is like a virus, we need an anti-virus to keep our country strong.

My Fellow Americans

This land is your land.  This land is my land.  This is the way the song begins.  What I want to mention is the fact that this is our land.

What I want you to reflect upon is this. Our land does not come without a price.

They say it is a free country.  It’s not.  It costs money to live.  It costs money to send your kids to school.  College will really cause you to re-mortgage your house.  I know.  I’ve been there.

However anyone who told you anything worth anything at all was free did not know much about life.  There is a price to being an American.  What breaks my heart is the division which has arisen.  We no longer give each other the right to his or her own opinion.  If he does not agree with us, we have a tendency to say he is unpatriotic.  Sometimes, all he is saying, is we need to make changes.

Ironically the changes are these.  Let us step back.  Back to the times when our founding fathers wrote the Declaration of Independence and the time when they wrote the Constitution of the United States. 

It is ironic that they did not even fully understand the words they wrote.  We brought people into our country as slaves.  Part of what our forefathers wrote was, “All men are created equal.”  Our country does not have a perfect past.  We have made mistakes but we have learned from them.  Let us learn from them today.

We, the people need to send a message to our leaders that if they are not willing to put the welfare of the nation first then they are not leaders and we will seek leaders who can put their own financial welfare aside and consider what this great nation has done for us all.

That, my friend includes them as well as you and me.

However, we must go one step beyond.  We must be activists.  I do not mean the kind who stands before the Capitol Building and burns our flag.  I mean become active and aware of whom the candidates are and what they stand for.  We should vote.

We should hold them to their promises.  Those promises should not simply be a way to get their foot in the door, after which they simply do their own thing.  They should have integrity and that means if you make a promise you keep it.

We should make a promise, too.  Our fellow Americans, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background have the rights you and I do.  We are all brothers. 

I would like to see all Americans pray but since some do not wish to acknowledge the presence of God I will give them that right.

That is what the United States of America is all about but we cannot become lazy.  We must be diligent.  We need to constantly be reexamining ourselves.  We must be constantly looking for ways to improve ourselves as a nation. 

Please remember whether you pray to God through Jesus Christ or to Ali or Buddha, this is each person’s right to choose.  But, let us all come together as Americans and let us work together to bring Peace and justice to all, the American way. 

Keep in mind that Love conquers all!  Can we love?
