The Seed
Do you know what is funny about a seed? If you put it in the ground and it for any reason fails to draw nutrients from the soil, it dies. You say that is not funny? You are right. It is sad. Another seed is destroyed because it did not grow. There could be any number of reasons. Jesus said once, some of the seed was sewn upon the sand and it sprouted but when the drought came it quickly died. Some was sewn upon rock. It never had a chance. Biologically speaking it is possible that some was drowned by too much rain, causing it to rot.
Spiritually speaking, the word is planted upon each of our hearts. What we do with it is up to us. God gave us free will. Do you for one second think he didn’t know what Adam and Eve would do as soon as he said don’t? He knew they would exercise their free will and he knew there would be a price to pay but this leads for the better of us all. For centuries, now we have all been fighting that same battle. It is not a battle of nations, or a battle of groups, clicks, denominations of churches or any political battle.
It is a battle that each of us fights with himself. God knew this. Have you ever considered how the body’s immune system becomes strong? It does so by working. We take antibiotics to help the immune system strengthen itself. What are antibiotics? They are weaker versions of the very germs or bacteria that cause flue, colds and other diseases.
I really believe God said, “let us make a test run for man and woman while they are still in the body. They will do exactly what I expected but only by learning from their great mistakes can they ever learn that free will and God’s will are not a choice to make.
Choose God of your own free will and you grow.
Now, let’s get back to that seed. There it lies in the ground. It could live or die. It could reach for the warmth of the sun (God) or it could let itself be overcome with the fact that is buried and thereby simply become part of the fertilizer that will help other plants grow. If it reaches for the sun it will sprout through the ground and grow into a glorious plant.
Here is more food for thought. When it does sprout it will possibly be surrounded by any number of different plants. They live together in harmony. Each is growing and each reaching for the sun. Each creates oxygen for man to breath so they all share something else in common. They, each and everyone have something to give.
Can we be like those plants? If we can, it will make our Lord so proud. He watches the ones who overcome the desires of the Earth and reach for eternity. It is these that he was working for all the way back to the Garden of Eden.
God created us all. Male and female created he them. He meant for us all to give something to him. When we help a neighbor or even a stranger who is in distress we are doing so for God and he will praise us for it. After all, he is our Father.

This is why God spoke to us in parables. He wanted us
to be a thinking people. To figgure things out for
ourselves. He gave us free will. He could have made puppets
out of us. The dog has a keen sense of smell, hearing
loving, forgiving but he cannot speak. Why do you think?
