If you ever read the book “Animal Farm,” by George Orwell you have to see where we are heading as a nation. Now we are not farmyard animals but in some ways we are allowing ourselves to be exploited as one. Those who have the money and power flaunt patriotism or the lack thereof as a reason for us not to question their ethics.

            Animal Farm was a fairytale type story.  But Mr. Orwell, who was great with Science Fiction, also wrote the book, “1984.”  You may say well 1984 has come and gone.  It has but it is interesting that although he may have not hit the year exactly much of his story is not fiction today.

            Is “Big Brother” watching you?  Think about it.  There is a camera at practically every stop light in town.  You cannot walk into Walmart or your grocery store without being watched.  I know you will say, “They need to do this.”  People will steal from them if they don’t take the proper precautions.

            The sad truth is this is true but the fact that our nation has divided itself between the very rich, the quickly evaporating middle class and the very poor is a fact we need to address.

            Our kids and their kids will have to live with what grows from our neglect.  Global warming is for real.  Moral decay is a fact.  We no longer want to believe in a supreme power so we think we are one.  Our current President is a perfect example.

            The American public needs to wake up and cry out loud and strong to let those we have elected into power know that their power in fact comes from us.  We are one nation; of the people, by the people, for the people.  We are the nation.  Our complacency can put us at real risk.

            You may be asking, “If you believe in God and Jesus Christ how can you worry about this world.  It is only temporary, anyway.”  My answer to you is as follows.

            Jesus came to die on a cross for us.  If you choose to not believe this that is your choice.  He knew where we were heading.  Maybe he was just buying time with his gift.  We need to work for a better world.  We may not win in this life but we will win for eternity.

            But if we get back to the subject at hand, let us not forget that we need to take a stand for truth, justice and the American way.  We do not need to be Superman but we do need to be strong.

If you have the guts to catch the real wake-up call simply Google “the fall of democracy.”  You will find hours of reading but beware.  It may serve to cause you to either become totally depressed or a real advocate for justice and renewal of what our country was founded upon.  The rights of the people are what our founding fathers fought for.  Those who died in World War I and World War II put their lives on the line to defend this.  Even though I believe the War in Vietnam was a huge mistake which shows that we are not always right, those soldiers should be respected as should those fighting in Iraq.

            Why are we fighting there while we are falling apart from inside our own borders?  Write your congressman or woman… sends emails keep them going on a regular basis.  Yell loud for America depends upon the strength of the people that is you and me.

            I would like to invite each of you to send this to everyone on your email list.  Tell your friends.  Let us strike up a conversation.  Let us begin anew to recapture what we used to know as national Pride.
