2nd. Peter 3:9-11
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

         I truly believe that we live under the assumption that God and his wrath will bring upon us an end by fire.  I truly believe that God will not do this.  We will.  We take from the Earth and give nothing in return.  We cut down the trees which were all a wonderful part of nature to keep a balance which sustains life for us all.  Do we plant another tree?  Too often the answer is no.  We build shopping malls, factories out of which pollution is spewed and housing projects.  We build twenty room homes for a family of five.  I ask you why. 

I honestly believe that God in his majesty sees what we do and he knows our hearts only too well.  This is why we pray to him for help but he is waiting.  He will bring a new Heaven and a new Earth just as he promised but our Lord told us of these times.

If you would like to look into this a little more get a copy of a book written by fellow author ‘Nancy Lee Shrader’, entitled, “Is it now?”  It takes a long look at scriptures of what the people of the Earth will become.  This book is a compilation of Bible scriptures and explains what we sometimes feel compelled to overlook.

            Our Lord told us the Earth would be destroyed by fire.  This may not make sense to you right now because there are floods, hurricanes and even rising water in the sea.  It seems funny that this is caused by global warming.  I have written articles and poems calling for us to wake up but I must admit people do not seem to know the gravity of the situation or if they do know, they simply do not know what to do about it.

            The Ozone is being depleted in the upper atmosphere.  It is become more prevalent in the lower atmosphere.  This means heat will not rise up and stays on the surface causing the polar caps to melt, rising sea levels and draught.

            Yes, we do have rain, hurricanes, typhoons, flooding as these temperatures rise.  When they rise even further what will keep the waters in the sea?  Will the Earth one day look like Mars or any of the other planets we can see?

            In the scripture it tells of Noah and his family.  People mocked him and ridiculed him and laughed but when the floods came where were they?  History does record the floods.  History does record that the Earth has gone through many cycles.  I would suppose that is why there are no dinosaurs left.  There was no room for them in the Ark.

            The bottom line is that we may not be able to turn this global warming thing around now but we should at least try.  I believe Christ will return.  I only pray he finds me trying to do something positive rather than simply throwing my hands up and saying, “Why Try?”
