There is something I have been pondering in my mind for years and I decided to write about it. I want you to crank up your imagination and contemplate these ideas. Do not confuse this with gospel for I do not claim this to be gospel. This is just suppositions and presumptions. When you talk of God and Heaven there is much that we simply are not yet ready to understand fully. I am reminded of a story where a patient asks her doctor if he knew what Heaven was like. Just then the doctor’s dog came running into the room where the dog had never been. The doctor turned to the patient and told her,
“My dog did not know what was in here except he knows I was here. That is how I feel about Heaven. I don’t know what Heaven is but I know my master is there so I want to be there also. This is how I feel but I still can’t help but ponder the question of things I do not yet understand.
When one turns on the TV set or goes to the movies he finds shows and movies about visitors from other planets. Some of them are angelic and some are devilish creatures. These shows and movies are extremely popular and we may even entertain the possibility that they could conceivably be true . After all, we are here so why couldn’t there have been life evolving on other planets as well?
The question I ponder is this. Many people who advocate this idea think those of us who believe in God, Jesus and Angels are superstitious. I do believe there could be life on other planets but I do believe with all my heart there is a God. If there be life on other planets I believe they were created by God also. I also believe he did send angels to earth on more than one occasion. In fact there is one with me now as I write. This I firmly believe.
Let us just get lost in these Sci-fi movies. What if God and heaven was really located on another planet? It is a possibility. I am not saying this is so and I am not preaching this as gospel. I am only surmising the possibility. We are talking Sci-fi now. What if the angels sent from God existed on other planets with powers we can only imagine.
Margaret Atwood who wrote “Aliens have taken the place of angels” had this thought. Why do we need science fiction? She said this;
“Before the term “science fiction” appeared in America in the 1930s, during the golden age of bug-eyed monsters and girls in brass brassieres, stories such as HG Wells’ “The war of the Worlds” were called ‘scientific romances’. In both terms-scientific romance and science fiction- the science element is a qualifier. The nouns are ‘romance’ and ‘fiction’ and the word fiction covers a lot of ground.”
She makes a good point here and my point is this. Let us define science
The study of the physical and natural world and phenomena, especially by using systematic observation and experiment… a particular area of study or knowledge of the physical world…
Fiction means this:
Novels and stories that describe imaginary people and events. Something that is untrue and has been made up to deceive people… The act of pretending or inventing something.
The reason I include this is simple. Fiction, by its very nature is not real. Science is by its very nature is considered very real. Gee, what a combination?
When we talk about Jesus Christ, God and the presence of angels we do not proclaim these as fiction. At this point in history aliens from other planets are purely fiction. We do not owe it to them or ourselves to believe.
As a Christian, I truly believe in Jesus Christ his father and my God and yes, I believe in angels. No fiction….Real. That can make people nervous. This God we worship expects something from us and that is what we fear. This is good. Somewhere in the bible it says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of all true knowledge. Mind you, I believe it to be only the beginning. As one gets to know him better the fear diminishes and is replace adoration, devotion and love.
No living man has ever been to Heaven. This is speculation, mind you but wouldn’t it be amazing if we find when we get there that it is located on a planet in a solar system we didn’t even know existed? Keep in mind that the only thing we know of God is what is taught in the bible and what was proclaimed by his son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. We will learn more, I am sure when we are ready to fully understand it.
Let us worship him… for real.
