How interesting. Sewing is becoming a lost art. I remember my mother working on a pedal operated Singer when I was a small child and later had one with many whizbangs, most of which she didn't use. She gave me a little sewing kit when I left for college and I prided myself in sewing on my lost buttons and even modifying a shirt with a snap tie thing that I turned into a snap down collar that was as good as a button-down one. ;-)

My partner/caregiver of the last 30 years started sewing for her nine brothers and sister when she was 12, helping her mother. Upon arriving here, she was sewing at her sister-in-law's home, bored, when her brother found that I needed help in my house, a block away.

After working for a bridal shop, a famous alterations guy with a shirt factory, and another place, Beh opened her alteration and dry cleaning shop in 2000. The economic downturns here in Houston have caused most of the alteration shops to fail. While Beh continued her shop with a basic tax loss every year. She knows sewing machines in and out and can even repair her own. She and her recently arrived Vietnam sister-in-law do all of the cutting and sewing. Her business grows and grows to the point where it is becoming a great strain, and I've encouraged her to hire other sewers and expand to a larger shop than the tiny one she has, crowded with machines and clothes.

Beh has decided to close the shop on Wednesdays to get a break. 5 star reviews. Famous people for her customers.
