My friend at work has two young daughters and she loves to tell their stories to me. The one I liked best was what one of them had said about her first day of kindergarten:
She had come home from school, shaken and teary-eyed, face swollen from crying. When her mother asked her what happened, the five-year old sobbed, "When the swing chain hits you in the head, it really changes your life!", and burst into tears all over again at the memory of her first truly painful experience.
She was right. Never again would she be so unaware of the possibly painful results of her innocent actions; or, more simply, of being in the wrong place at the right time. Thunk! Just thinking of it made my head hurt.
Judith this is the second review. I don't know what happen to the other one. Swing chain, or monkey wrench, are similar in nature. The lost key example hits home. My wife has this problem bad. I try to tell her some of the same advice you have here but she don't seem to get it. She's doing better now though. Interesting angle you have here. tk care Grady

great tips Judith! Words of wisdom and words to live by...
Judith, the first time I read this my jaw dropped and it gave me a feeling of this girl is on to something here! I read it again today, and your words have proven to be profound and full of wisdom! I can never look at another swing chain again without thinking of you and this outstanding piece of writing!
I guess that's what I'm doing every time I go to dialysis... if I stopped to think about everything that could possibly go wrong with my treatment, I'd quit going-- and end up dead of uremia. If I go in there thinking there will be a problem, there usually is-- much better to think good thoughts as I drive myself to my treatments.
