What exactly is a romance novel? 

A romance novel is a love story between two people.  The tales are about companionship and finding true love.  I try to create a world where the reader shares in the characters’ triumphs and sorrows on their path to finding true love.  I tend to write fast paced reads where the main characters must resolve a problem, misunderstanding or solve a mystery before they can be happy. 

Though I do have love scenes in my tales, I tend not to be too graphic.  There’s passion without describing every touch in detail.   

The most popular Sub-Genres are:

* Contemporary Romance – The stories take place in the modern world, with conventional values.
   

* Historical Romance – The stories take place in an earlier time, such as the Regency era or medieval era. There is some focus on historical accuracy, however the story and the development of the characters are more important.   It’s good to remember this is not a history lesson.  The history should be sprinkled throughout the story either in mannerisms, speech and social standings.
   

* Alternative Reality Romance - Paranormal, fantasy, science fiction or horror are woven into the romance plot. Werewolves or were-creatures, Vampires, ghosts, time travel, and other worlds are in this genre.
   

* Romantic Suspense - Elements of mystery, espionage, thrillers and suspense are woven into a romance plot. There may be some violence and a heroine or hero may be in danger.
