I have stated in my essay, ‘Monotypic Facts on Reality’ that, “The Big Bang, black holes, the origins of life, neo-Darwinian evolutionary theory, ‘gravity’, etc. are all part and parcel of the very self-evident level of scientific confusion”.
This level of scientific confusion being the way metaphors and similes tend to slip into scientific thinking and then becoming part of their accepted wisdom. There are real dangers in this – scientifically speaking, that is!
Furthermore, everything that humans do is based on assumptions, axioms, postulates, etc. people then come to their conclusions based on these assumptions, axioms, and postulates. This is their reality!
One must also be very careful as to how scientists interpret data and information. You might look at the same information and come to very different conclusions!
I have talked a bit about ‘gravity’ as one of the four basic forces of nature in the essay, ‘The Descriptions and Predictions of Mathematics’.
According to advanced physics the universe consists of only four basic forces, matter, and energy. Furthermore, all this came into existence through a Big Bang – or so the Big Bang theorists want us to believe! Living programs like DNA grew mechanically out of this matter.
But what about life? About spirit? Or for that matter love?
Well, according to these theorists life is like a disease of matter, spirit does not exist, and love – I would think could be regarded by them as the worst affliction of all. To them it seems; love in a materialistic sense is only for self-gratification and procreation! Not important, but useful nevertheless!
If the purely mechanical Big Bang did start everything in our universe it is logical that life, spirit, and love can only be something that either grew out of matter (like energy), or something from our imagination! But then where does this imagination, consciousness, etc. all comes from? Are they also just emanations from matter? Some scientists believe so!
In fact, natural science is not qualified to even consider this – it is totally, and utterly, out of their domain! Even psychologists have painted themselves completely into a corner by trying to emulate the physical sciences.
The argument from these scientists is that the Big Bang, and the neo-Darwinian theory of evolution, is acceptable to believe in; it is rational and scientific. But beware; ghosts only exist in your ‘mind’ – whatever they mean by mind! It is not fashionable to talk about ghosts, faeries, magick, etc. in good company anymore. Not that most good company know anything about ghosts, magick, or scientific theories, anyway! They usually don’t even know the difference between hypothesis, theory, or fact! But then again be fashionable or die!
There seem to be a hierarchy of levels of being. We can start from matter and then progress upwards’ to plant life, animal life, and finally human life! Now we can also ask the question, ‘what differentiate the one level from the next? – life, consciousness, and self-awareness’? We do not know!
Another serious scientific dilemma here is classification. Scientists like to classify, and they need to classify, and generalise, to make sense of everything!
But the moment you start to classify and generalise you again open the door for all kinds of ghosts, faeries, and elemental creatures, to slip into your theories. For the High Priests of the Church of Advanced Science even mathematics can become a spiritual endeavour full of devils, daemons, and black magick!
Where does all this leave the rest of us? Be sceptical, but open your ‘mind’ – and then be confused!
