Location is important but don't let it be a mission kill.
When I started wrting I had the idea of myself sitting in some big leather chair, smoking a pipe and writing the Great American novel. If I looked out my window I would see sailboat glide past, and seagulls, would laze about the air.
Not so! I wrote my novel OF ICE AND STEEL in the only place I had. I don't know but maybe I'm the first novelist to complete a work underwater. I was deployed to the North Atlantic for chapters 1-19, and the Med. for the remainder.
Take a look at the picture. This is me in my "office." This is the Torpedo room of USS SPRINGIFELD SSN 761. That tool box is where I set up my laptop. So I wrote standing up. So no matter where you are, you can work if you have the drive and the hunger.
Hopefully you unlike me will not be surrounded by missiles and torpedoes. See the blue round objects behind me? Those are the noses of ADCAP torpedoes.
So don't let location or equipment or anything stop you from getting your words on paper.

Hope your picture is not "Cassified" in this day of terrorism. But how important is your message. When I wrote Restless Waves in my lounge, I had to convert the desk area into the cabin of a luxury liner. There were some hair raising stormy tales....wish I had been in a sub too!
