Band: Killing Miranda

A very cool goth rock band that crossovers with some dark-wave and even metal,

Killing Miranda were a British based musical group initially playing gothic rock, later introducing more industrial and metal influence into their sound.

Six years after their first album release Killing Miranda, to their eternal credit are still willing to tread the boards of any spit ‘n’ sawdust venue that will host them.

For many on the London rock scene (myself included) Killing Miranda can do no wrong and believe it to be a travesty that they have not scaled greater heights, especially on the back of two awesome studio albums and hundreds of critically acclaimed live performances.

I was interested to see how they would fare at this gig, but they appeared to take the tiny ‘Man on the Moon’ venue in their stride and proceeded to put on a show that would have graced any rock arena.

Opening with the pulsating Discotheque Necronomicon ‘’ (taken from their debut album: Transgression By Numbers), they soon had the crowd eating out of their hands.

Belle and Irish Dave were, as ever, the musical driving force of the band, keeping a solid tempo throughout allowing Alien Dave to flourish and Rikky to work the crowd with consummate ease, his voice in top form.

As you would expect, many of the favourites from both studio releases (Transgression By Numbers & Consummate) feature in the set, but it’s the tracks ‘Teenage Vampire’ & ‘Angelfly’ that really got the crowd reaching fever-pitch and baying for more.

Finishing the set with the venomous ‘Spit’ provided a good kick-ass ending and ensured that everyone went home happy. It has to be said that their dark Gothic / Industrial music oozed the kind of grinding, raw power that can sway hips and raise fists with equal aplomb and would sate any fans of such bands as Skinny Puppy, Front 242 & Rammstein, so if you haven’t checked them out already I recommend you do so at the earliest opportunity.
