I was proud to have recently had an article published in my hometown newspaper, The Downey Patriot. It was because I received the Semi-Finalist Award from VH-1 Song of the Year for my new single, "The Song of the Bayou" (Remixed).

from VH-1’s Song of the Year Contest
Award-winning Singer-Songwriter Lady Laraine, AKA Laraine Turner, was named a semi-finalist in VH-1s Song of the Year Songwriting Contest. Turner, of Downey, was named Semi-Finalist in the world-wide contest, for her newest single, THE SONG OF THE BAYOU (REMIX). Turner is also author of the fantasy-thriller, The Rise and Fall of the Witch on the Bayou (Publish America, Inc.). She completed a Bayou Book Tour, including TV shows and book signings in Louisiana, where her debut book was set. She appeared on WFAD-TV in Kansas City, Missouri on “The Fox Morning News Show,” where she did a book signing at Barnes & Nobles Booksellers. Turner is hard at work now on her newest book, “Spanky,” for which she wrote her award-winning song, “Never the Same Again.”
