This article is reflecting how the Senate should try to find ways to assimilate the estimated twelve million illegal immigrants into our structured society.

     This article appeared in the Tuesday (December 19, 2006) local newspaper.

     "Legislators, staffers and organizations with a dog in the hunt are meeting in Washington to talk about what the Senate should include when it writes a new immigration bill next year. The chamber is likely to restart the debate in January, 2007 and senators could increase the chance of finally getting a comprehensive immigration bill through Congress by putting a special focus on integrating immigrants into the mainstream."

     Maybe it is me, but I was under the impression that the majority of the population was against condoning bad behavior.  The illegal immigrants have broken our laws and laughed at our sovereignty. Now, our government is getting ready to reward bad behavior?
     Is it that difficult to understand what an insult this is to those who were born here as well, maybe more so, to those who went through the necessary steps to arrive here legally?
     As I mention on page 142/143 of Chapter Eight in my book: This ultimately has brought down our wages and helped to cheapen many employment opportunities that we once had. You wonder why our teenage children are wandering about the streets with little or nothing to do? Again, look around!
     In other words they are not contributing to the communities that they are invading and depending on. They expect and demand housing for their families that the rest of us are obligated to pay for. They expect and demand food for their families to eat that the rest of us are obligted to pay for.
     They expect and demand good schools to send their children to that the rest of us are obligated to pay for. They expect and demand clothing for themselves and their families to keep warm in the winter months and keep cool in the summer months that the rest of us are obligated to pay for.
     They expect and demand medical attention for themselves and their families that the rest of us are obligated to pay for. They expect and demand heat in the winter to keep their families warm that the rest of us are obligated to pay for. They expect and demand air conditioning in the summer to keep their families cool that the rest of us are obligated to pay for.
     Let me ask you something? What happens to you if you decide not to pay your rent one month? Do you receive harassing telephone calls? Do you begin to receive reminder letters? Do you receive threats of eviction from the apartment you were renting?
     When you receive your electric bill do you just put it aside and not give it another thought? If you do not pay your electric bill on time do you receive a courtesy reminder? Are you threatened with a cut off date if you continue not to pay your bill? Do you notice something new on your reminder notice? You know, like what it will cost you to have your service re connected? Are you also hit with a delinquent fee?
     What about your telephone, water bill, car payments, shall I go on? What happens when you run out of money to meet your monthly payments?
     If you should be one of the fortunate ones that own your own home, have you ever skipped your mortgage payment? Have you ever not paid your property taxes and school taxes when they came due?
     How many homeowners have been foreclosed on because of failure to pay any of the items that I have mentioned above? Does anyone really care how your life and the lives of your family members are being thrown into turmoil? Does anyone even care where you go or how you are going to survive?
     The answer is no, not really. It is always up to you to scramble and try your very best to imporve your own situation and that of your family.
     Yet these illegal immigrants slither across the border and have the audacity to place demands upon us for not accommodating them in the manner they wish to be accommodated in? Am I beginning to make any sense here?
