New Congress bipartisan bill is planned to ease immigrants path to citizenship; deny money for fence. Condition that would compel illegal immigrants to leave may be removed.

     This article was in the local newspaper Tuesday, December 26, 2006.

     "Counting on the support of the new Democratic majority in Congress, Democratic lawmakers and their Republican allies are working on measures that would place millions of illegal immigrants on a more direct path to citizenship than would a bill the Senate passed in the spring.
     The lawmakers are considering abandoning a requirement in the Senate bill that would compel several million illegal immigrants to leave the U.S. before becoming eligible to apply for citizenship.
     The lawmakers are also considering denying financing for 700 miles of fencing along the border with Mexico, a law that Republicans wrote this year.

     I guess that means that our leaders have absolutely no intention of protecting our borders? Do we not have a country anymore? Why do we bother having an immigration policy if we are not going to honor or follow it? Guess it is okay to insult all immigrants who have entered this country legally, right?
     In Chapter Eight (page 141-142)  I try to discuss this very topic.
     "Open up your eyes and look around for yourself. Community after community throughout our country is struggling. Even our legal system is being over burden because of some elements sneaking across our borders causing havoc.
     Pending cases are either put on hold for a period of time or they are just out right being delayed because the court dockets are just jam packed.
     Legal aid attorneys are carrying case loads like there was no tomorrow. They are literally working day and night and reaching that exhaustion plateau. There is just so much one person is capable of doing.
     Our police departments are operating on a budget that no longer accommodates the needs of the growing communities. Police officers themselves are burning out at a much more rapid rate than they have in past years. Every day it just becomes that much more difficult.
     Are some of them looking for and finding employment? Well, yes they are. I know because I see them early in the morning in my community. They are usually hanging around at various designated pick up places waiting to be chosen as day laborer of the day.
     The difference is that they are not paying any payroll taxes which contribute to the well being of every community. They are most likely working for low wages and putting in very long hours. They are paid in cash and when they have an opportunity they just find a way to send the money back home.
     This ultimately has brought down our wages and helped to cheapen many employment opportunities that we once had. You wonder why our teenage children are wandering about the streets with little or nothing to do? Again, look around!
     In other words they are not contributing to the communities that they are invading and depending on. They expect and demand housing for their families that the rest of us are obligated to pay for. They expect and demand food for their families to eat that the rest of us are obligated to pay for."
      Now, our government is going to give the approximately twelve million illegal immigrants a pass?
I guess in a way we have lost our country. We used to have laws, but I guess they do not mean very much anymore, do they?
      What is it I keep hearing, they do the jobs that we no longer want?  You mean like, brick layers, landscapers, construction workers, bridge builders, road work,?  What comes next? Jobs like architect, lawyers, doctors, nurses, teachers, firemen, policemen, bankers?
      They are given priority and carte blanche to our colleges and universities. How long before we change what few laws we have left and illegal immigrants can be Mayors, Governors, Congressmen and Senators? Oh well, even Rome did not fall in a day.
